Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has decided to run 194 special trains to Puri in order to control heavy rush of passengers during the world famous Puri Rath yatra to be celebrated from July 4 and July 13 this year.
Besides, 60 additional ticket counters will also be opened under Khurda Road Division to handle the added traffic, said ECoR Khurda Road DRM Sashikant Singh in a statement.
“For the safety and security of passengers, we have drone cameras this time along with sniffer dogs and train information system display board near the Jagannath temple and Puri sea beach,” the official said.
“In the tourist complex of Puri, the NGO will serve food free of cost there. We have already consulted the Puri Collector in this context,” he said.
The RPF has made adequate arrangements for the safety and security of the passengers. As many as 550 officers and staff, one company of Railway Protection Special Force, 550 GRP personnel will be deployed during the festival, sources said.
The ECoR is conducting post-Fani restoration in Puri railway station on war-footing.
