Los Angeles: This year, the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards was different courtesy due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The award ceremony, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles, saw the winners accepting their awards virtually. He conducted the show from an empty theater as there was no live audience or red carpet this year. Producers monitored over 100 live feeds from about 20 cities, including Los Angeles, New York, London, Tel Aviv and Berlin.
The Emmys witnessed Succession, a family drama from HBO won four out of the seven awards. Succession fetched the Outstanding Drama Series, the Outstanding Actor (Drama) Award for Jeremy Strong, Outstanding Direction and Writing (Drama) awards.
While POP TV’s Schitt’s Creek won all seven awards in the comedy category, HBO’s Watchmen dominated the Limited Series category. In the Drama Series category, HBO’s Succession won four out of the seven awards.
