Berhampur: In a major breakthrough for Ganjam Police, a notorious ganja Peddler of Khallikote area in Ganjam district has been apprehended and 8.5 Kgs of gold and Rs 75 lakh cash has been recovered from him.
A team of the Ganjam Police arrested one Rajanikant Patnaik of Khaliikote area and seized more than Eight and Half Kgs of gold ornaments and Rs 75 lakh cash from him.
The team also recovered about 34 Kgs Ganja and 10 Kgs of Opium from him. The team carried out a raid at Khalapalli and apprehended Rajanikant.
Rajanikant is a notorious Ganja peddler involved in smuggling the contraband from Kandhamal area to different states. He used to transport the Ganja in his scooter.
Further investigations are underway, the police said.
