Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government today launched a dedicated website for the marketing of horticulture produces amid COVID-19 lockdown.
The website ‘odihortmarketing.nic.in’ has been unveiled by Agriculture & Famers’ Empowerment Minister Dr. Arun Kumar Sahoo through video conferencing.
The website will facilitate direct selling platforms for fruits and vegetable farmers, who are facing problems to sell their produces in the wake of lockdown.
As horticulture produces are perishable in nature, the digital platform will address the transportation problem to ensure quality of the produces.
As per the plan, the horticulture departments in all 30 districts will update the availability of excess produces in their respective districts in the website for marketing. The businessmen can directly purchase the products from farmers after contacting the district level horticulture department.
As of now, nearly 1500 businessmen have registered in the website.
