Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his happiness after the Centre withdrew the controversial draft notification on heritage bylaws by the National Monument Authority (NMA), prohibiting construction works around Jagannath Temple in Puri and two other temples.

“Jai Jagannatha”, Naveen tweeted after Union Culture Minister Prahlad Singh Patel directed the NMA to immediately withdraw the draft notification following the intervention of the Chief Minister and his party Biju Janata Dal.

Earlier today, the Chief Minister visited the Srimandir and prayed for the peace and prosperity of the people of Odisha.

He thanked the people of Puri who have sacrificed their lands for the development of the temple and said their sacrifices will not go waste.

“Nobody can stop the work of Lord Jagannatha. The Central Government should withdraw the NMA bylaw notification”, Naveen told the media.
