Bhubaneswar: After focusing on the quality service delivery to common people in police station and hospitals, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today directed concerned officials to make Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) across the state broker-free within 15 days.

Patnaik’s directive came while he was holding a discussion with collectors, SPs and Regional Transport Officers through videoconferencing at the Lok Seva Bhawan here regarding the newly-implemented MV Act.

The CM advised the officers for opening more counters at the offices for facilitating issuance of DLs and other vehicle-related documents to the applicants. He also directed officials to take stringent action against drunken driving and reckless driving.

Naveen laid emphasis on providing first-aid treatment to road accident victims. Besides, he also emphasized to create awareness about the traffic rules and road safety.

Sensitization drives on road safety should be conducted at schools, colleges and roads, he opined.

The Chief Minister asked all concerned departments to work in coordination for proper implementation of the new MV rules.
