Fighting COVID-19: Mass Health Screening 2.0 Commences in Ganjam Dist

Berhampur: The Ganjam district administration has started the second phase of mass health screening in the district as part of the slew of measures to fight the COVID-19.

The door-to-door health screening will check for any symptoms among the people.

The second round of mass health screening is being conducted as the district witnessed arrival of more than two lakh migrant workers from other states.

While all the returned migrants have been subjected to compulsory institutional quarantine, the district administration does not want to take any chances of local transmission.

The door-to-door health screening program will continue till June 12.

More than 3.5 lakh families will be covered under the program, sources said.

To chalk out the modalities of execution of the programme, Co-ordination Committee meeting will be conducted via video conferencing in which BDOs, Tahasidars, medical officers and CDPOs will participate.

Gram Panchayats will be divided into unit having 700 households and each unit will be assigned to a team consisting of local teacher, AWW, Health worker, ANM for health screening.

The team will visit every household in the designated area and conduct thermal screening of all members of the family and fill up the given information sheet.

If any symptomatic person is found, the same has to be informed to the RRT immediately. On the same day, the concerned RRT need to visit the house to conduct complete health check up of the family. If the RRT team feels that the person or persons of the family are Covid infected then they must refer them to the nearest Covid care center with detailed referral note, the district administration said.

The supervising officers need to be appointed by the concerned BDO for each GP will conduct a meeting daily evening and send the report to the BDO. The BDO in turn send the consolidated report to the District Covid cell, the admin stated.
