Bhubaneswar: Amid the spike in COVID-19 positive cases linked with West Bengal travel history, the Odisha Government has traced at least 253 persons who visited the neighbouring state from Khordha district using mobile tracking system.
The persons who travelled from West Bengal to Khordha district in the last few weeks have been traced using mobbing tracking, said Shalini Pandit, Mission Director, NHM, Odisha.
Pandit has sent the list of these returnees to Khordha Collector Sitanshu Kumar Rout and urged the district administration to take necessary steps to locate them.
The West Bengal returnees should be put in home quarantine and their samples should be collected for testing, she said.
Besides, engaging the panchayat and urban local body functionaries to locate the West Bengal returnees in every nook and corner of the state, the Odisha Government has also adopted a strategy to use mobile tracking system to trace the returnees from the neighbouring state.
As per reports, the State Government got the information regarding 2,900 West Bengal returnees with the help of only one telecom service provider. Other service providers were yet to submit their finding reports with the government, the officials said.
