Five Day Shutdown In Ganjam Urban Areas Begins

Berhampur: The five day shutdown announced by the district administration of Ganjam in all urban areas and block headquarters has started from this noon with tight security arrangements made by the police. The shutdown time will be crucial for the administration as it goes for door to door health screening to check Covid-19 symptoms.

Alongwith BeMC, Hinjilikatu Municipality, 16 Notified Area Councils and Block Headquarters of Sheragada, Sanakhemundi, Patrapur, Dharkote and Jagannath Prasad are being shut down till July 13.

The district administration has made all efforts for extensive screening of people for any symptoms relating to Coronavirus.

Two hundred teams having doctors and other officials will screen more than seven lakh people during the five day lockdown period. For this the administration has taken strict measures such as ban on movement of people and vehicles. All the borders of the district with neighboring districts are sealed. Also, the government has declared closure of all government offices and banks in urban areas of the district for public during the shutdown period.

According to District Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange, the health teams would also collect data on diseases like tuberculosis and malaria to find out the vulnerable persons.
