Forces Bust Huge Maoist Camp In Nuapada Forest Following Exchange of Fire

Nuapada: In a big success to Odisha Police and counter maoist forces engaged in the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border in Nuapada district, a huge camp belonging to the Naxalites of CPI (Maoist) has been busted. Basing on intelligence received from reliable sources by Nuapada Police regarding presence of a Maoist camp in the dense forests of Odisha-Chhattisgarh border under Komna Police limits, combined security forces of SOG, DVF and CRPF launched an Anti Naxal Operation on 7th January.

As per the information, the Naxalites had gathered to plan various anti security forces strategies and to carry out other subversive activities. Accordingly, on the 7th of this month, an Anti-Naxal Operation was launched by the combined security forces of SOG, DVF & CRPF. At around 8.45 AM on 9th January, while the commandos of SOG and DVF were conducting search operations in the forest areas of Sunabeda Reserve Forest, 50 to 60 hidden Armed Naxalites opened indiscriminate fire towards them with the intention of killing them. The team retaliated gallantly and counter fired in self-defense. Again on 10th January, a combined team of SOG, DVF, CRPF was sent for reinforcement to that area. During search operations, at about 9.45 AM on 12th January, hidden Armed Naxalites opened indiscriminate fire towards the Security Forces. The team retaliated gallantly and counter fired in self-defense, due to which Naxals fled the area. After the Exchange of Fire, during searches, the combined security forces recovered huge dump of explosives and other maoist items from the forest including Mortar cells (03), Solar Plates (2), Codex Wire, Tiffin Box, Mao literature, Mao Uniforms, knife, Batteries, Plastic drums, Utensils, Medicines, Syringe, G.I. wire, Booby trap nail, Tarpaulin, Rope and Hawershake among other items.

The security forces are conducting further combing operations in the area.
