Berhampur: In order to ensure better treatment of patients with asymptomatic and mild symptoms at their homes, the Ganjam district administration has now introduced free Home Isolation Kit for COVID-19 patients, who are in home isolation.
The kit consists of a medicine kit with prescription from doctors and contact details of the medical team, two five-layer masks, a 100 ml sanitizer, and a booklet describing various precautionary measures and guidelines for the patients.
It will be given to the patients, who are in home isolation in blocks and urban areas, apart from daily health checkup by the medical teams.
The Home Isolation Kit is necessary as 1005 COVID patients including 767 in rural and 238 in urban areas in the district are under home isolation having asymptomatic or mild symptoms.
Talking about the initiative, Project Director, DRDA, Siddharth Shankar Swain said, “The Home Isolation Kit has been introduced to ensure that the patients get instructions for self-monitoring of health and necessary access to medical team whenever required.
Recently, the State Government has allowed home isolation of asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic COVID-19 patients as more than 70 per cent of cases in the State are asymptomatic and can be cured of the disease at home without admission into hospital.
