Gajapati: Former Sarapanch to Undergo 2 Yrs Jail for Misappropriation of Govt Money

Bhubaneswar: A former Sarapanch in Gajapati district has been sentenced to 2 years rigorous imprisonment for allegedly misappropriation of government money.

Dimidi Rama Rao, Ex-Sarapanch, Kidigaon GP under Kashinagar Block, who was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case for misappropriation of Govt. money by falsely showing expenditure under different heads in connection with execution of two projects during the year 2009-10 under MGNREG Scheme, was convicted by Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur.

Rao has been sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of two years and fine of Rs.5,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months for the offence U/s 13(1)(c) r/w 13(2) of PC Act, 1988, the Vigilance said.
