Gajapati: Former Village Education Committee President Sentenced to 2 Yrs Imprisonment for Misappropriation of Govt Fund

Bhubaneswar: A former village education committee president of Baghasingsahi Primary School under R.Udayagiri PS in Gajapati district has been sentenced to two years rigorous imprisonment for misappropriation of government fund.

The village education committee president has been identified as Dukha Mandal.

Mandal, who was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c) of PC Act, 1988/409/120-B IPC, for misappropriation of Govt. money meant for construction of new primary school building at Baghasingsahi in the district of Gajapati, was convicted by Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur.

He has been sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.10,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months more for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c) of PC Act, 1988.

The Court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.5,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 month more for the offence U/s 409 IPC. Both the sentences are to run concurrently, the Vigilance said.
