Kanpur: Gangster Vikas Dubey, who was arrested from Ujjain’s Mahakaleswar temple in Madhya Pradesh yesterday, was killed today in an encounter while he was trying to escape after a road accident. Vikas was being taken to Kanpur from Madhya Pradesh when the STF vehicle met with an accident and overturned on the highway. Vikas is said to have snatched the rifle of police and trying to escape when the police encounter occurred.
Vikas, the main accused in the massacre of eight police personnel in Kanpur last week is involved in a number of criminal cases including murder, kidnapping, extortion and riots. He was on the run since the planned murder of eight policemen in Kanpur last Friday.
