Berhampur: In a major embarrassment to the transport department, an Additional Road Transport Officer of Chatrapur was caught red handed by public when he was travelling without seatbelt.
The incident happened near Chatrapur in Ganjam District when the officer Santanu Kumar Parida was returning from a routine vehicle check up on the National Highway 26. A video of Santanu went viral in which he can be seen seating on the front seat of a Bolero Vehicle. While some local people protested it, he did not heed to them and continued his journey. Incidentally, the driver of the vehicle was also not wearing the seat belt.
The incident has got critical reactions from netizens who demanded strict action against him. While the transport department along with the police are imposing strict rules and collecting hefty fines from the general public, the same treatment if mooted from the officials too.
