Berhampur: Odisha Vigilance on Monday arrested an assistant engineer of Ganjam Block in Ganjam district for allegedly taking bribe from a contractor.
Bansidhar Parida has been apprehended by the vigilance sleuths while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 4000 from a contractor for facilitating release of his bill in respect of supply cost of morrum materials for a road work under MGNREG scheme.
The entire tainted bribe money has been recovered from the back side pant pocket of engineer.
Following trap, simultaneous searches are being carried out at two locations of Parida from DA angle, the vigilance said.
In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance P.S. Case no 19/22 u/s 7 P.C (Amendment ) Act, 2018 has been registered against the accused engineer.
Investigation is in progress against Parida, the vigilance stated.
