Berhampur: In a blow to the Odisha unit of BJP, Debaraj Mohanty, a senior leader from Aska Assembly constituency in Ganjam district, has quit the party on Tuesday.
Mohanty, who was a BJP candidate in the 2019 Assembly elections, resigned from the primary membership of the saffron party expressing his resentment over the nomination of Saroj Kumar Padhi as BJP candidate from Aska Assembly seat.
He has sent his resignation letter to the Odisha BJP President Manmohan Samal.
Mohanty informed that he will take the next step after discussing with his supporters.
Notably, Mohanty was defeated by BJD candidate Manjula Swain in the 2019 Assembly elections from Aska.
