Ganjam: District Level Agricultural Fair-Cum-Exhibition Gets Encouraging Response from Farm Community

Chatrapur: A district level mega agriculture fair-cum- exhibition got an encouraging response from the farming communities in Ganjam district.

The three-day event held at Chatrapur from January 7 to 9 saw a footfall of more than 20,000 visitors, including farmers, public, students and members of self-help groups from different parts of the district and outside.

The agriculture fair was organized by the district administration involving agriculture and allied departments with an aim to deeply percolate the various welfare schemes and programmes of the government, advanced scientific tools and technologies among the farmers.

The major focus of the mega event was on the innovative concept named ‘TARA’ (Transformation of Agriculture in Rural Area), which was recently introduced by Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange to develop entrepreneurship among farmers for augmentation of their income adhering to the 5T mantra of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

TARA is being implemented in the district in convergence with agriculture and other departments to boost the income of the farmers in specific time period.

About fifteen departments such as agriculture, horticulture, fishers, veterinary, soil conservation, OLM, Mission Shakti, irrigation and South-co are being involved to execute their activities in a single farmer’s field at least to double his income in a limited time period under the TARA initiative.

The initiative was highly appreciated and accepted by the farmers during the three-event.
