Bhubaneswar: The hooch tragedy in Ganjam district which claimed one life and left several critically ill rocked the Odisha Legislative Assembly on Wednesday leading Speaker Surama Padhy to adjourn the House twice until 4 PM.
The members of opposition Biju Janata Dal have made scathing attack on the State Government over the hooch tragedy.
Pandemonium began shortly after the Assembly convened as Opposition BJD MLAs rushed to the well of the House, demanding a Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) probe into the incident.
The Congress MLAs also caused an uproar, calling for the defence of marginalized communities’ rights.
The Speaker first suspended the session until 11:30 AM. As the uproar continued upon reconvening, she adjourned the Assembly until 4:00 PM.
