Ganjam: Jawan, Who Was Assaulted by Miscreants, Succumbs to Injuries

Chatrapur: An army jawan, who was assaulted by miscreants, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bhubaneswar.

The jawan was identified as Dileshwar Patro, a resident of Kaliapalli village under Chamakhandi police limits in Ganjam district.

One person has been arrested in this connection. Efforts are on to nab the other miscreant involved in the incident, as per Ganjam SP Jagmohan Meena.

Chatrapur SDPO, IIC and Chamakhandi IIC are jointly investigating the incident.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the Jawan was brutally attacked over the past enmity.

Dileshwar was working in the Indian Army for the last 8 years. Recently, he was posted in Durgapur in West Bengal. Hearing the news of the birth of a daughter, he came to the village on vacation. On December 3, when he was returning home after watching a cricket match near Gopalpur, five youths attacked him and threw him into a pond in Haripur village.

Initially, he was admitted to MKCG MCH Berhampur and then he was taken to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar in a critical condition. He succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment, as per reports.
