Ganjam Police Tops State in CCTNS Ranking; Berhampur Town PS and Kodala IIC Best Performers

Bhubaneswar: Reiterating its commitment to serve the people and provide a crime free society, the Ganjam Police has once again proved that it is the best Police in the State. According to the latest data released by the Home Department, Ganjam Police tops the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System – CCTNS ranking in providing various services to the people, taking action against crime and criminal activities and registering crime and other data. Ganjam Police has been adjudged as the best Police District in the overall category leaving behind the other 35 Police Districts of the state. A district wise report has been published on the Pragati dashboard by the Home Department in this regard.

While Ganjam has taken the lead, Nuapada Police stood at the second and Angul Police stood at the third position in the rankings. According to the data published on the Pragati Dashboard by the Home Department, the success rate of Ganjam Police District stood at 97.28 percent while that of Nuapada Police District stood at 96.82 per cent. Angul Police District has a success rate of 91.72 per cent.

The icing on the cake is Berhampur Town Police Station has topped the list of best Police Stations in the state. Likewise, Kodala Police Station IIC Umakant Sahu has been ranked as the best IIC in the State. Propelled by the 5T Initiatives, Ganjam Police’s performance has been appreciated by all and it has been able to gain the confidence of the citizens. Be it citizen friendly initiatives to serve the people, or cracking complicated cases, Ganjam Police has been able to retain its position in the top.

Speaking on the achievements, Ganjam SP Jagmohan Meena said that in year 2023, Ganjam police took many people friendly initiatives. Ganjam police registered mobile theft cases which resulted in the recovery of more than 220 stolen mobile phones which were handed over to the rightful mobile owners.

To make streets safer for women and children, enforcement against the drunken driving was aggressively done. In 2023, more than 4000 cases of drunken driving were detected. In each case, drunken drivers paid fine of more than Rs 10,000, the Ganjam SP stated.

He further said that Ganjam police also took action under section 82/83 CrPC against the absconding accused persons in serious offence cases. This resulted in surrender and arrest of 17 persons who were absconding in serious offence cases (Murder, attempt to murder, etc) for many years. To check the illegally distilled liquor, 87 vehicles were confiscated by Ganjam Police which were carrying ID liquor. Ganjam police also registered highest number of FIRs in the state (17461) which shows that all people were received well at the 25 Police stations and their grievances were promptly registered as FIR, he added.

During the year 2023, Ganjam Police has been able to successfully solve cases involving cyber crime, illegal drugs, loots, burglaries, interstate criminal gangs, drunken driving cases, illegal sand mafias etc. The Berhampur Town Police has also solved a number of important cases including looting, theft, cyber crimes etc. A record number of people in Berhampur have got back their stolen gold ornaments during the year as Police successfully nailed the culprits and recovered stolen property.

According to Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M, “It is a proud moment for all belonging to Berhampur and Ganjam as Berhampur Town PS was adjusted the best Police station among all PSs of the state in the CCTNS monitoring system. The priority for the police was citizen first. The performance of the city police in solving some of the biggest loot incidents has helped it to strengthen the people’s confidence in Police. The 2024 will also be a challenging one. Our focus will be on quick response to the citizen’s needs.”
