Chatrapur: Propelled by the 5T Initiatives and Mo Sarkar, Ganjam Police has been brining smiles to the citizens through its various people friendly steps. Through its array of services dedicated to the common man, the lives have become easier and comfortable. The changing image of the Ganjam Police has been profusely praised by the people and it has created a new benchmark in providing various services. In year 2023, Ganjam Police took many people friendly initiatives keeping in mind the needs of the common man.
One of the most important successes is that Ganjam Police registered highest number of FIRs in the state (17461) which shows that all people were received well at the 25 Police stations and their grievances were promptly registered as FIR. There is increase of 30 percent in registration of FIRs as compared to the previous year 2022.
During 2023, Ganjam Police registered 185 mobile theft cases which resulted in the recovery of 225 stolen mobile phones. Most of the mobile phones have been handed over to the rightful mobile owners.
To make streets safer for women and children and to reduce fatal road accidents, enforcement against the drunken driving was aggressively done. In 2023, 4684 cases of drunken driving were detected. Their vehicles were also seized. Drunken drivers paid heavy fine of Rs 10,000.
Ganjam Police also took action under section 82/83 CrPC against the absconding accused persons in 33 serious offence cases (Murder, attempt to murder, etc). This resulted in surrender and arrest of 17 persons who were absconding in serious offence cases for many years. To check the supply of illegally distilled (ID) liquor, confiscation of the 92 seized vehicles was done. These vehicles were being used for supplying ID liquor.
Ganjam Police detected 154 cases of gambling, in which 794 persons were apprehended, 126 vehicles and Rs 25,04,990 were seized.
Creating a record in timely disposal of cases, Ganjam police has already completed investigation in more than 95 percent of the cases registered in 2023 and sent the case records to the concerned courts for starting trial. This is the highest disposal of cases and lowest pendency in the state.
With a thrust on adaption of modern technology, Ganjam Police used CCTNS (Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System) fully in policing. All case records have been digitised. All case record movement from police station to district police office (SP office) was done online through CCTNS. This saved a huge amount of paper and space to store the case records. This resulted in Ganjam Police achieving first position in CCTNS Pragati dashboard in state for 2023.
Speaking on the successes of Ganjam Police SP Jagmohan Meena says that” Successful implementation of these initiatives was possible only by the teamwork of all the police personnel of all the ranks of Ganjam Police including the constables and Home Guards. We have tech-savvy manpower at constable and home guards level who are instrumental in implementing CCTNS in the district. The focus on people friendly initiatives has been our distinguishing achievement and we will continue to serve the people with care and compassion.”
