Chatrapur: In a major achievement, Odisha’s Ganjam district won the National Panchayat Awards 2020 in three major categories – Gram Panchayat Development Plan, Child-Friendly Gram Panchayat and Nanaji Deshmukh Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Sabha Puraskar (NDRGGSP).
The awards have been to Ganjam district today for the assessment year 2018-19 on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day.
With this, Ganjam has become the only district to win the prestigious national awards for the State.
While, Kainchapur GP in Ganjam Block has bagged the ‘best development plan in Odisha’ award, the ‘best child friendly GP in Odisha’ and Nanaji Deshmukh Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Sabha Puraskar (NDRGGSP) awards have been given to Badaborasingi GP in Belaguntha Block and Podamari GP in Sanakhemundi Block respectively.
Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange has expressed his happiness for the awards.
When asked about his feelings to became the only district to win the award for the State, Ganjam DRDA Project Director Er. Siddharth Shankar Swain said, “We have always given thrust to the development of the Gram Panchayat and we make development plan with participatory planning where people of the gram panchayats are the core.
I congratulate all the people of the Ganjam District, all the PRI functionaries and officials for winning this award.
The three Sarpanches Santosh Reddy of Kainchapur GP, S.Jyoti Patra of Badaborasingi GP and Bhagyasri Bisoyi of Podamari GP have expressed their satisfactions for the awards and said, we got the recognition at the national level and it will definitely give new enthusiasm to work for the people.
