Glimpses From the Devine Festivities of Debasnana Purnima At Lord Jagannath Temple

Puri: One of the most important festivals associated with Lord Jagannath, the Debasnana Purnima is being held today with great pomp and gaiety. The festival is being conducted in the presence of devotees after a gap of two years. The three siblings of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra have been taken to the Snana Bedi in the temple premises.

The centuries old ritual involves the bathing ceremony of the three deities of the Jagannath Temple – Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Balabhadra.

The idols of Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Balabhadra are taken out in a procession by the servitors from the Ratna Singhasana to the Snana Bedi where the deities will be bathed with 108 pitchers of herbal and aromatic water.
