Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Raghubar Das on Monday ordered for the for dissolution of 16th State Legislative Assembly.
This has been informed by the Parliamentary Affair Department through an official notification.
“In exercise of the power conferred upon me by Clause (2) (b) of Article-174 of the Constitution of India, I hereby order that the Odisha Legislative Assembly constituted vide Notification No. 308/OR-LA/2019 dated 25th May, 2019 Of Election Commission of India, shall stand dissolved with effect from the date a newly elected Legislature is constituted by the Election Commission of India’, the notification reads.
Earlier today, the State Cabinet decided to recommend to the Governor for dissolution of the Legislative Assembly, a day before the counting of votes for the elections held in the state.
The decision was taken at the last meeting of the state Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
