Governor Ganesh Lal Addresses Odisha Assembly, Praises Efforts of State Govt in Fighting Covid-19 Pandemic
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Prof Ganesh Lal today addressed the State Assembly on its first day of the Budget Session.
In his address to the House, he praised the efforts of the state government in fighting Covid-19 pandemic and managing the economy well. He said “My govt has been able to collect its revenue amounting to Rs 38,760 crore by the end of January, 2021, which is about 7.3% more than the collection during the corresponding period of the previous year”. Despite the adverse impact of Covid, a positive growth has been recorded in the state’s revenue indicating recovery in the economy.
He also said that the law and order situation in the state largely remained under control in 2020 due to the efforts of the Police department. Also, 49 police personnel sacrificed their lives in the line of duty during Covid-19. He also praised the state government for its efforts such as Biju Sishu Suraksha Yojana, Balaram Yojana, water conservation efforts among others.
