Harassment of Farmers: Amar Patnaik Asks Narendra Singh Tomar To Intervene

Bhubaneswar: Senior BJD Leader and Rajya Sabha Member Amar Patnaik has written a letter to the Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar requesting his intervention into the alleged harassment of farmers by Oriental Insurance Company.

This comes after Amar Patnaik received a representation from the Bargarh District Unit of the All Odisha Farmer’s Organisation Coordination Committee regarding application of incorrect Area & Yield under data the Prime Ministers Fasal Bima Yojana by insurance companies. Farmers from four blocks of Bargarh namely Jharbandh, Padampur, Sohela and Bijepur alleged that the insurance companies are denying them their legitimate claims due to loss of crops under the PMFBY.

The Rajya Sabha member has requested the Union Minister to intervene in the matter and inquire the irregularities.
