Bhubaneswar: Health Minister Niranjan Pujari on Wednesday unveiled the building of newly established Odisha University of Health Sciences in Ekamra Kshetra, Bhubaneswar.
The ceremony took place in presence of Vice Chancellor Prof Datteswar Hota, Shalini Pandit, Commission- cum Secretary, Heath & Family Welfare Department, Vishal Kumar Dev, Principal Secretary, Finance Department, Aurobinda Agrawal, Commissioner- cum- Secretary, Higher Education Department, and Saidutta Biplab Kumar Pradhan, Registrar.

On the occasion, the Health Minister inaugurated the e-Office developed by National Informatics Centre, Bhubaneswar to ease the day-to-day functioning of the University. Odisha University of Health Sciences Act was passed in 2021, and was established on 5th March, 2003 on the eve of Panchayatiraj Divas. It started its operation in the Ekamra Kshetra Sishu Bhawan Square from 2022.
The University has been established with an objective to streamline the Medical, and allied health science courses in the State. Now onwards from 2023-24 academic session, courses like MBBS, MD, MS, DM, MCh, BDS, MDS, BAMS, BHMS, B.Sc Nursing, M.Sc Nursing, BPT, MPT, BMLT, BMRT, BEMT, BOTT, BAT, BO, BOT, MOT, B.Pharm, M.Pharm etc offered in the afiliated colleges will be governed under the regulations and courses of studies prescribed by the Odisha University of Health Sciences. Director, Curriculum Prof (Dr) Geeta Sahu, Controller of Examinations, Prof (Dr) Amarendra Nayak, and Director, Research & Development, Prof (Dr) Budyut Kumar Das were also present on this auspicious occasion. Prof. Hota, Vice Chancellor, Odisha University of Health Sciences has extended his sincere gratitude to the mandate of the Government of Odisha let by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Commissioner- cum- Secretary to Government, Health & Family Welfare Department, Director of Medical Education & Training, Odisha and others in establishing the much-awaited Health University in the state of Odisha.
He is optimistic that this will streamline, and fulfil the timely teaching, examination, and publication of results.
