Sambalpur: There were all praises for the district collector of Sambalpur Shubham Saxena yesterday when he made a surprise visit to one of the remote areas of the Nakatideula block. He not only visited the villages but took a firsthand experience of the functioning of the schools in the area.
As part of a reach out to the remotest areas to inspect the development process, the collector went to schools and interacted with the students and teachers. He also took interest in teaching the students for some time.
He was on a surprise visit to the primary school in Badobahal village under Similipal panchayat and a school in Kaeni village under Ghusuramal panchayat. He inspected the mid day meal being prepared for the students and was satisfied with the management of the schools.
It was a touching moment for Saxena when some of the students told him that they have never been to a city. He immediately directed the teacher to arrange a visit for the students to the city. The students, parents and the villagers were very happy to see the collector in their village and share their grievances.
In another occasion during the visit, the collector got a grievance on illegal sale of liquor in a village to which he immediately responded and ordered for action.Three persons were arrested subsequently after that.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has congratulated the collector for his initiative to reach out to the remote places and said it is a moral duty of the officers to undertake implementation of the development agenda and there assessment.
