Berhampur: A Biju Janata Dal delegation today met the State Election Commission and demanded strict action against Bharatiya Janata Party leaders and workers alleging violation of the Model Code of Conduct in Golanthra and Konisi in Ganjam district.
In the representation given to the SEC, the BJD delegation said that the BJP’s Ganjam District President Bibhuti Bhusan Jena and other BJP leaders have grossly violated the Model Code of Conduct Guidelines. The BJD alleged that, the BJP organised a meeting and feast for the election campaign of BJP at the Government High School premises in Golanthara, Ganjam District today in violation of the Model Code of Conduct. Conducting such an election related feast in the Government School is a blatant violation of the rules.
Further this evening, Bibhuti Bhusan Jena, along with other BJP leaders and workers also organised and led a rally at Konisi in Ganjam district after 7 pm today despite the strict no-campaigning period being in effect.
The BJD delegation also provided the photographic evidence of the election feast and the videographic evidence of the rally in a pen drive to the Elections Commission for its perusal along with the memorandum.
