Berhampur: As many as 156 persons from Ganjam district, who have won the battle against coronavirus recently, have come forward to donate plasma for the treatment of serious COVID-19 patients.
The district administration has identified the volunteer donors during the door-to-door health screening of the COVID-19 recovered patients.
The admin has started the six-day health screening from August 20 in order to know the health condition of the discharged patients and motivate them for plasma donation.
As on August 21, 3148 persons have been screened by the medical teams, of them 22 persons have been given post COVID medical care. So far, 156 recovered patients have come forward for plasma donation, said Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange.
As the district has large number of cured persons, the health screening will help the administration to identify more plasma donors, he added.
Currently, there are 13963 COVID-19 recovered persons in Ganjam district.
