The maximum temperature soared to over 40 degree Celsius in several places in the State. The highest day temperature of 44.2 degrees Celsius was recorded in Baripada, according to the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar,
The temperature in Boudh and Nuapada is 43.5 degrees Celsius, while the temperature in Jharsuguda is 43.4 degrees Celsius.
Eight places in the State have recorded maximum day temperature of 43 degrees Celsius or above.
Meanwhile, the IMD has predicted that several parts of State are likely to experience thunderstorm activity or light to moderate rain over the next five days.
