Biju Janata Dal has decided to observe the 74th Birthday of Chief Minister and Party Supremo Naveen Patnaik on 16th October with a social message for blood donation. The Party is in preparations to organize blood donation camps at various places marking the birthday of the party chief. A mega blood donation camp will also be organized at the party office where the chief minister will be present. All over the state about 59 blood donations camps will be organized which will collect about ten thousand blood units in a day. This initiative shows the social responsibility of the party that has been ruling the state for the last 20 years.

The party had started a movement called Jiban Bindu in 2015 on the occasion of Biju Patnaik’s Birthday that called for the people of the state for voluntary blood donation. With the help of all the organizational wings of the Biju Janata Dal, the program has turned into a movement and till date more than 3 lakh 8 thousand units of blood has been collected. A major role was played by the youth and student wings of the party in this initiative. The success of the program has prompted to take it to the next level.
It is relevant to mention here that the chief minister has called for formation of a social service wing of the party that will work for the downtrodden. The focus of the social service wing will be on plantation, environment, blood donation and health assistance.
