Puri: The divine bathing festival of the trinity Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Jagannath, also known as the Snana Yatra continues in full fervor in Puri Sri Mandira. Lakhs of devotees thronged to get a glimpse of this divine and celestial religious moment. This important ritual also marks the beginning of the festivities associated with the annual sojourn of the deities, the world famous Ratha Yatra.

On the Snana Purnima day, the trinity is accorded a holy bath with 108 pitchers of aromatic water by the Pujapanda servitors of Sri Jagannath Temple. The water would be drawn by Garabadu servitors from a well called ‘Sunakua’ situated inside the temple premises. While the Pahandi rituals started at 4 am and completed by 7 am, the Jala Bije, Puja and Snana rituals will be held between 11 AM to 12. 45 PM. The Chera Panhara by the Gajapati Maharaj Shri Dibyasingh Deba will be held at about 2 Pm. The deities will be adorned with the Hati Besha or the elephant attire at about 2.45 pm today.

Of the 108 pitchers of the scented water, 33 pitchers of water will be poured on Lord Jagannath, 30 pitchers on Lord Balabhadra, 27 pitchers of water on Devi Subhadra and 18 pitchers of water on Lord Sudarshan. After the completion of the Debasnana Yatra, the deities will be taken to the Anasara Gruha inside the temple premises.
