Sambalpur: The Hirakud dam authorities have closed four more sluice gates of dam as water inflow to the reservoir has reduced, informed Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Jena today.
As of now, only 24 gates have been opened to release the floodwater from the reservoir.
Currently, the inflow of water is 884 cusec/second while the outflow is 5,28,61 cusec/second.
The water level in the dam was at 625.91 feet against the optimal storage capacity of 630 feet.

Earlier, 46 gates of Hirakud dam were opened to discharge excess water from the reservoir.
