Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government has declared 27 days as Holidays for State Government offices as well as Revenue and Magisterial Courts (Executive) and 18 days as Holidays for the Banks and other Banking Institutions situated in Odisha for the Calendar Year, 2022. The list of holidays includes the birthday of Pandit Ranghunath Murmu which falls on 16th May. It day is also celebrated as Baisakha Purnima and Buddha Jayanti in the state. Earlier, the day was declared as an optional Holiday since 2017.
Considering the rich contribution of Pandit Raghunath Murmu for the propagation of Santali language, culture and creation of Ol Chiki script, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved the birthday of Pandit Raghunath Murmu as a Holiday.
