ICJ to Pronounce Verdict on Kulbhushan Jadhav Case Today

New Delhi: The International Court of Justice (ICJ) will pronounce its verdict today in the case relating to Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav, currently on death row in Pakistan.

Udge Abdulqawi Ahmed Yusuf, President of the Court, will read out the verdict of the top international court at 3 pm (6.30 pm IST) today in a public sitting at the Peace Palace in The Hague.

A retired Indian Navy officer, Jadhav was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court on charges of espionage and terrorism in April 2017.

India approached the Hague based-ICJ in May 2017 against Pakistan for denying consular access to Jadhav.

On 18th May, 2017, the ICJ had restrained Pakistan from executing Jadhav till adjudication of the case.
India had also challenged Jadhav’s trial by the military court of Pakistan. After hearing the final arguments from both sides, in February, the ICJ had reserved the judgment.
