IMD Issues Red Warning for 4 Coastal Districts in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre here on Thursday issued Red Warning for four districts of Odisha in view of the depression over northwest and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal, which is likely to intensify further into a deep depression during next 24 hours.

The districts are Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Balasore.

In its latest special bulletin, the met department said that the system is very likely to move north-northeastwards and cross West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh coasts as a deep depression between Sagar islands (West Bengal) and Khepupara (Bangladesh) over Sundarbans by 23rd October afternoon.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Balasore, the Meteorological Centre predicts.

Squally weather with wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph is likely along the area of coastline over the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Balasore, it added.
