In a First, Keonjhar Using DMF Funds To Give Scholarships to Meritorious Students

Keonjhar: The Keonjhar District administration has once again demonstrated its commitment towards the development of the meritorious students of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya by provisioning scholarships from the DMF funds.

The Administration has decided to provide hefty scholarships to meritorious students studying in Class X of the Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas in Keonjhar district who have secured more than 60 percent marks.

Total 280 meritorious students of Class X studying in Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas will now receive scholarships under District Minerals Fund according to their percentage of marks. With this historic step, Keonjhar becomes the first district in the state to provide scholarships to meritorious students of Class 10th in OAVs.

Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya is one of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s ambitious projects that aims to impart quality English education to the students residing in the remote areas of the state.
Despite the difficult pandemic situation in the state, more than 280 students from 9 eligible OAVs in Keonjhar district scored more than 60% marks and among them 45 students have scored more than 90% marks in the Class 10” exam conducted by CBSE. Amrit Raj Biswal from OAV, Salapada, Anandapur, has achieved the top position in Odisha among all the OAVs by securing 99.4 percent marks.

This initiative is aimed at encouraging students to successfully complete their schooling cycle and also support them financially to pursue higher studies beyond Class X level. During last year, scholarships for meritorious Class 10 students of Government and Aided schools under Board of Secondary Education were initiated under DMF Keonjhar.

This time the eligible 280 students, who have secured more than 60 percent marks, of nine OAVs will be provided scholarships worth Rs 54.8 lakhs. The initiative is also in-line with the recommendations of the National Education Policy.

On the eve of Teachers Day, a meeting was organized today in which principals of nine Odisha Adarsha Vidyalays were felicitated. Chairman Odisha Adarsha Vidyala Sangathan, Upendra Tripathy joined the meeting virtually and appreciated the District Administration for its efforts in helping budding talent in the district. He stressed on three aspects – perform, reform and transform so that highest achievements can be made.

Keonjhar Collector Ashish Thakare has said that the District Administration will make all efforts to recognize the meritorious students of the district and they will be provided all help in their academic endeavors.
