Balasore: India today successfully test-fired a sophisticated all-weather and all-terrain Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM) from a test range along the coast of Odisha.
The state-of-the-art missile developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Bharat Dynamics Limited for the Indian Army, was test-fired at Chandipur in Balasore district.
The missile was tested from launch pad-3 of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at around 11.00 am today.
QRSAM uses solid-fuel propellant and has a range of 25-30 km, the sources said.
The first trial of the QSRAM was conducted on June 4, 2017 and this was followed by the second successful test on July 3.
The missile is all-weather, an all-terrain missile with electronic counter-measures against jamming by aircraft radars. The missile can be mounted on a truck and is stored in a canister.
The test-firing comes on a day when Pakistan is prompting tension in the sensitive areas in Jammu and Kashmir.
