New Delhi: India’s COVID-19 tally crossed the 61-lakh mark on Tuesday with the addition of 70,589 coronavirus cases and 776 deaths in 24 hours.
According to the Union Health Ministry, the coronavirus caseload in the country stands at 61,45,292 cases, including 9,47,576 active cases, 51,01,398 recoveries and 96,318 deaths.
While the recovery rate stands at 82.58 per cent, one of the highest in the world; the fatality rate has dropped to 1.57 per cent, the Ministry said.
The global death toll due to Covid-19 passed the one million mark on Tuesday. The most deaths have been reported in the United States, followed by Brazil and India. These three countries account for nearly 45 per cent of Covid-19 deaths globally.
