Dubai: Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Capitals will meet each other for the first time in the 2020 IPL season on September 20 at the Dubai International Stadium. IPL 2019 was Iyer’s first full season as DC captain while IPL 2020 is the first season when Rahul will be leading the side.
Though both the teams are having exciting squads for this year’s IPL and here are top five players who could make an impact at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Chris Gayle
Chris Gayle holds the record for hitting the maximum hundred and sixes in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and scored close to 4500 runs. While playing for KXIP, he scored 490 runs and 368 runs in IPL 2018 and IPL 2019 respectively. His partnership up top with KL Rahul will be crucial for KXIP and will look to give them flying starts throughout the IPL.
KL Rahul
KL Rahul has been exceptionally well with the bat when it comes to scoring runs. The KXIP captain for IPL 2020 scored over 1250 runs in the 12th season, with 12 fifties and a ton. Rahul has been entrusted with the responsibility of captaining the side and his form both as a batsman and as a captain will determine KXIP’s fate in this season’s IPL.
Shreyas Iyer
The stylish batsman led his squad ed Delhi Capitals to the final four last year, the franchise will expect him to take them a step further. DC has some of the most exciting mix of Indians and overseas players in its squad. Iyer will be eyeing a big win in today’s encounter against KXIP.
Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant is a match-winner for his franchise and has the ability to change the game on its head in a few balls. Pant is an explosive batsman but his biggest weakness is losing wickets during tense situations. The left-hander, batting in the middle order, has all the traits to change the game on its head in a matter of few balls.
Kagiso Rabada
The sensational South African speedster played only 12 games last year but still picked a total of 25 wickets for Delhi Capitals! Rabada’s bowling variations and his ability to bowl those fiery yorkers in the death overs makes him an important cog in Delhi Capitals’ wheel. His pace and variations will surely trouble the hard-hiters of KXIP squad.
