Dubai: Delhi Capitals (DC) beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 13 runs in the 30th match of the Indian Premier League 2020 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
After winning the toss, DC opted to bat first against RR and progressed to 161/7 in 20 overs. Skipper Shreyas Iyer (53 off 43 balls), who had to leave the field after hurting his shoulder, had earlier put on 85 for the third wicket with Shikhar Dhawan (57 off 33 balls). Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer helped the team with their half-centuries and DC made a comeback after losing early wickets.
Chasing a modest total of 162, Rajasthan Royals lost Jos Buttler and Steve Smith inside the powerplay. Ben Stokes (41 off 35 balls) and Sanju Samson (25 off 18 balls) tried to steady the innings in the middle overs, but they were dismissed in quick succession at a crucial point in the run-chase. The South Africans, Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje, received good support from debutant seamer Tushar Deshpande and spinners R. Ashwin and Axar Patel as well, as DC won by 13 runs.
This is Delhi’s second win against Rajasthan in the tournament. After this win, DC reclaimed the top spot on the points table. They have won six out of eight matches so fat in this tournament.
