Dubai: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have registered 88 run victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) in 47th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Tuesday (October 27).
Invited to bat, SRH scored an imposing 219 for two against DC. Skipper David Warner and Wriddhiman Saha, who opened the innings for SRH, added 77 runs in the first six overs. David Warner 66 off 34 balls and Manish Pandey who scored an unbeaten 44 off 31 balls to take their team to 219 for two wickets in 20 overs.
In response to 219/2 wickets, DC were blown away for 131 and succumbed to their third consecutive defeat of the season. It was a rather ordinary performance by the DC batsmen. Shikhar Dhawan (0) and Marcus Stoinis (5 off 6 balls) perished in the first two overs. Ajinkya Rahane (26 off 19 balls) and Shimron Heytmyer (16 off 13 balls) quickly started the recovery work, stitching a 40 run stand, the highest for their team. Skipper Shreyas Iyer (7 off 12 balls) was next to depart as wickets continued to tumble at regular intervals. Seven of Delhi’s batsmen failed to reach double digits with Rishabh Pant (36 off 35 balls) being the top scorer.
For DC, from 12 matches this is their fifth loss, and to make in the play-off from two matches remaining they need to win one, while SRH from 12 matches have won for fifth time. But SRH will have to win their remaining two matches and will have to wait for the results of other teams.
