New Traffic Rules: Irate Mob Vents Anger on Commissionerate Police

Bhubaneswar: In a major embarrassment to the Commissionerate Police in the Capital city, irate people today stopped a PCR van of the police at the busy Rajmahal square in the heart of the city and asked for the vehicle’s documents.

The irate people alleged that they have found an empty beer can inside the PCR which led to a ruckus at the spot.

Police used lathi charge to disperse the mob in which some protesters and police officials also injured.

The irate people resorted to sloganeering against the police and demanded strict action against the responsible police officials.

The event is seen as a repercussion of the strict implementation of the amended traffic rules in the city.

The city has been witnessing a siege by the RTO officials and Police who are leaving no stone unturned to implement the new rules.

Incidentally, the DGP had on yesterday warned that drunken drive will not be tolerated anymore and strict action will be taken against the rule violators.
