ITI Berhampur Students Make 6-feet Sculpture of Mahatma Gandhi from Scraps

Berhampur: The students of the Odisha Government-run Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Berhampur have made a unique statue of Mahatma Gandhi as a mark tribute to the Father of the Nation.
The ITI Berhampur students, who are working hard on waste to wealth and developed so many scrap sculptures under the guidance of ‘scrap man of Odisha and Principal of the institute Dr. Rajat Panigrahy, have created a six-feet-high sculpture of Mahatma Gandhi on the eve of his birth anniversary.

The statute, which is weighing around 100 kg, has been made from scrap, mostly by using 1600 fan bearings.
Since Mahatma Gandhi emphasized on cleanliness, the students worked on the concept of best out of waste and have developed this statue.

“The students remembered Bapu on his birthday by making a 6 feet sculpture of him from scraps”, Dr. Panigrahy said.
“This is a special tribute to the Father of our Nation”, he added.

The slogan behind this innovative creation is “Swachchata Ru Dakhyata” (Swachchata Se Dakshata – Excellence through Cleanliness).
