Puri: In a significant development, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has reinstalled statues of Jaya and Vijay at the Lion’s Gate (Singhadwar) of Srimandir here late on Sunday night- hours before the commencement of Snana Purnima (bathing rituals) of the holy trinity.
Notably, The idol of Jaya was damaged during the cyclonic storm Fani, which ravaged coastal Odisha on May 3.
After installing the Jaya-Vijaya statues, the ASI will start the repair work of other parts of Srimandir from the day of Ratha Yatra on July 4.
Noteworthy, the repair work of Garbha Griha (sanctum sanctorum), Nata Mandap, Rosa Ghara (temple kitchen) and Jagmohan inside the temple will be carried out between July 4 and July 14.
Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Pradipta Mohapatra informed that an ASI team will inspect the Garbha Griha of the Srimandir on July 5 and 6, on the basis of the complaint by servitors that cracks have appeared on the roof.
