Jharsuguda: Odisha’s second largest airport Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda district will soon be declared as an all-weather airport following the installation of Instrument Landing System (ILS).
Informing this, Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri informed that the ILS that is currently being installed will be ready to use by December 2019 in order to facilitate take-off and landing operations of flights.
The Minister further said that Doppler Very High-Frequency Omni Range (DVOR) will be introduced at airport by October this year.
The ILS will be installed at a cost of Rs 5.5 crore, he added.
Currently, the Jharsuguda airport provides connectivity to Bhubaneswar, Raipur, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Delhi under the government’s regional connectivity scheme of UDAN.
