Jharsuguda: In order to facilitate take-off and landing operations of flights during inclement weather conditions, Instrument Landing System (ILS) will be installed at the Odisha’s Jharsuguda airport soon, said an official.
The ILS will be installed at Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda within a time frame of two months and will cost around Rs 324 crore, informed Airports Authority of India (AAI) Chairman Guruprasad Mohapatra.
An ILS enables pilots to conduct an instrument approach to landing if they are unable to establish visual contact with the runway.
The AAI has decided to install the facility at the Odisha’s second largest airport after passengers created uproar at the airport for frequent delay and cancellation of flights last week, sources said.
