Kalash Yatra Taken out on Second Day of Pratishtha Mahotsav of New Taratarini Temple

Chatrapur: A kalash yatra was taken out on the second day of the Pratishtha Mahotsav of new temple of Maa Taratarini, the presiding deity of Ganjam district.

The yatra was held this morning amid the beating of traditional drums, chanting of mantras and religious fervor.

The yatra began from Kansari gorge of the Rushikulya River with Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange carrying pot filled with water along with devotees and culminated at the hill-top temple of Maa Taratarini.

Chief servitor of Taratarini temple Bapuji Rana, ADM Priyaranjan Prusty, Purusottampur BDO Bijay Kumar Behera and Tahasildar Nitish Tripathy took part in the Kalasha Yatra.

In addition to Kalasha Yatra, various rituals of Maa Taratarini were performed on the second day of Pratishtha Mahotsav.

The Pratishtha Mahotsav began on Sunday with great enthusiasm and religious fervor and will continue till May 20 at the Adi Shakti Peetha at Kumari hills on the bank of River Rushikulya near Purushottampur.

A large number of devotees from different parts of the district and the state are flocking to the ancient shrine to witness the Mahotsav.
